I don't want to seem too familiar, but may I drop the d and refer to you by value, 1/137?
I am not a PC-Linux user so cannot offer any comments directly related to it. My advice would be to try it and maybe a few more, and try to find one that resonates well with you, then stick with it.
There is no "best" Linux and probably not a perfect Linux out of the box for you, so pick a good first fit and learn your way around it, ironing out wrinkles along the way. This may lead you at least near to perfection.
I would recommend that you also give Slackware a try - it is in fact perfect for me! And anyone with a name like yours should be thoughtful enough to comprehend the elegant simplicity and genius of Slackware!

PCLinuxOS seems to be easy to install and use, should be OK for getting your feet wet. If you're happy with dabbling slowly, I second the suggestion for Slackware as the way to learn (although you can cheat and start off with one of the Salix flavours and then move to Slackware).
