Quick LILO tip (ie Avoid my Mistake)

Only because when I started working with Linux I drove myself crazy making this mistake over and over again:

If you make changes to your "lilo.conf" file, be sure to type "lilo" (or "/sbin/lilo" if "lilo" doesn't work) for your changes to be applied.

Can't tell you how many times I rebooted my box and asked "Why isn't anything changing?"

I bet a lot of people do that. Even the ones that know
better. i use nt's bootloader to start my linux, so i have
to run lilo and copy the new bootsector to my windows
directory for it to work. I often install a new kernel with
make install, which runs lilo, then reboot without
updating the nt bootsector file.

I work on a lot of computers, and i very often am staring
at everything inside the computer, making sure i
hooked up everything ok, cables right, heatsink
seated properly, heatsink fan plugged in, and turn
on the machine and it doesn't come on, because
i didn't plug in the power cable on the power supply
outside. People standing there often say, " you
didn't plug it in" before i realize it, since thats all they
know how to do, they were waiting for me to do the
one thing they knew about, but i'm worried about the
