Quick/Dumb partition question.

I have never done on install from scrach and I am taking on a Gentoo stage 1 install.

Question is , do I need to make a file system for the swap partition? I am going to use ext3 on all others ( hd1/hd3)

Thanks

No. If you're going to partition it you'll get to choose the partition type as well. Type 82 is linux which you have to put a file system on. Partition type 83 is linux swap. You won't have to do anything with that anymore.

No, if you follow the Gentoo docs it will tell you what to do...

At some point you'll need to run mkswap and swapon but again, the documentation will walk you through it. Gentoo is really pretty easy to install, just takes time.
