Questions about Solaris 10 x86...
Hi All!
I have been using Linux for a while now... I did some "researches" about other unices, just for curiousity. I installed and used FreeBSD then. Recently I have installed Solaris 10 on my AMD64 box to try it, but I found it very confusing compared to Linux and FreeBSD... it really lacks of documentation for newbies (or at least I was unable to find these docs). For example I can`t find anything about such basic things like the exact meaning of /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s1... Does anyone know about such basic documentations? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance! :noware: |
There is a forum dedicated to Solaris on LQ: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...splay.php?f=20
Solaris disk devices naming is: c: controller number t: scsi target number (not used on IDE disks) d: disk number s: slice number (or p: partition number) Feel free to ask other questions there. PS: by the way, BSD and Linux are also very confusing for someone used to Solaris ... ;) |
