Question related to export command

Hello guys, i started to play with Oracle VM server (Red hat based) and im really lost with something.

In the server i have a regular user (lets call it "pepe") and the root user.
In order to make things work properly, i need to set N user variables with pepe.

The problem is that "pepe" cant execute the command export (The command is not being recognized), but when i run the export command as root, every works as expected.

Any ideas why "pepe" can't reach the export command ??

Thx in advance

I never messed with Oracle before, but what is the full output of the following?
Code:
ls -al `which export`
It might either be a permissions issue, or you don't have export aliased as your normal user. Try running that command as both your normal user, and as root.

@OP
export is a shell built-in command, so make sure that you use the same shell as root (most likely bash)
