Question on LILO
What's up Ya'll?
I'm getting ready to re-install slackware 12.2 on my laptop. For the fun of it actually. It's a dual boot. I have a a 220 GB harddrive that has two parts /dev/sda & /dev/sdb. Currently I have a boot stick for linux on a thumb drive and I believe it uses the sda1 part of my harddrive to boot. I'm kind of nervous installing LILO on that part of my harddrive because of a fear that I won't be able to log into vista again. Is that the case? What do I select when choosing a LILO Destination? A Root, or MBR? I think it's the most critical part of the installation and I don't want to mess it up. Any insight you can add for me? Thanks Slacker Padawen. |

(In the best case - Vista will be completely erased ... ;) ) |

In BIOS setup You have to enable lba32 mode and at the stage of bootloader installation too....

Thanks ya'll,
unfortunately I still have vista, but that's only because I have a wife that uses my computer. I reinstalled linux and this time it works GREAT!!! |
Great stuff - don't forget to thank the post that helped or tell us what worked if none helped.
Better yet - hunt down someone else in trouble and help them. |
