Question on Boot Menu options

I have installed Knoppix on a Knoppix-only machine. There is a single partition for Knoppix and of course a swap partition. My question is: why does my LILO boot menu show 2 boot options:

"Linux" which points to /boot/initrd.img and "Linux (2.6)-1" which points to initrd.img-2.6-1. I boot fine in either mode.

I would think they are different kernel versions but regardless of which one I select from the boot menu, the kernel being loaded is 2.6.11 and when I do uname -r I get 2.6.11 in both.

I saw a similar thing in my Mandrake install, so I assume this is standard behavior. I just don't understand why it is occurring.

Hello. It seems to me that /boot/initrd.img is a symlink to initrd.img-2.6-1.
[Or may be they are loaded with different kernel options/parameters]
