Question for those with Athlon64

Hey guys, I was just wondering if anyone out there's running linux on a Athlon64 with 64bit support enabled in their kernel? I'm considering buying an athlon64 and would be interested in runnin linux in 64bit mode (just for the hell of it). See any benefits? Do most linux software even take advantage of 64bit anyway? Do the compilers in linux even compile the programs I download into a 64bit program? ETC. Any user experiences with Athlon64s and Linux would be much appreciated. Thanks!

You should probably check out the Gentoo forum. They have a forum specifically for A64. You'll probably get more answers there than here. Any tips that you find will probably work on Mandrake too, or whatever distribution you plan to use
