Question about writing to windows partitions

I have a windows fat32 partition that I want to write to from Linux.

The appropriate line in my fstab is:

/dev/hdb1 /windows_D vfat user,rw 0 0
However, I can only seem to write to this partition as root, and not as a user.
Is there something that I've missed from the fstab line above?

thanks in advance,

On a wild guess, add umask=0 to the options

umask=000 works for me, also if you want everybody to have access to anything mounted through fstab users is the option you're looking for.
