Question about Ubuntu v.5.04

How compatible is Ubuntu v5.04 with an NTFS formatted External HDD?

I want to know before I install Ubuntu on my machine.

Linux uses its own filesystems.

NTFS support is limited, you can read from it, but it is not recommended to write to a NTFS file system
