Question about the Linux NTFS filesystem support driver.

I was looking around on sourceforge and stumbled upon the Linux NTFS driver. However, I am unsure of the stability of this and when 180+ gb of precious data stands in the balance, I figure I may as well ask about it. Has anyone used this before? Any bad experiences with it?

I trust that said precious data is backed up....

You can compile the kernel for ntfs support, but the consensus that I hear here is "don't trust writing to NTFS from Linux"

The approach that many use is to have data on a FAT32 partition---then it is easily and reliably accessible from both Linux and MSwhatevertheycallit....

That was true until 2.6.15 was released this month. :)

You mean NTFS is now well-supported read-write?

Out of curiousity, why would NTFS be so difficult to support? Aren't filesytems deterministic?
