Question about RewriteRule?
Can anyone explain me what does these line means?
Code:
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^test.hotel.com$
RewriteRule ^/seaHome.form$ /seaHome.form?brandCode=AIR$1
RewriteRule ^/manage/images/UI/(.*) http://image.peogos.com/images/UI/$1 [P]
RewriteRule ^/$ /searchHome.form [R=301]
Names has been changed..so anyone who can refer me docs which can explain in detail regarding the entries.

They are used to rewrite the url so that it will be seen as pretty urls instead of the ?variable=value. Check out apache mod_rewrite for more information.
However I am not sure what the top and bottom Rules are. They don't look like the normal rules I am use to using. Then again I am still pretty new to using mod_rewrite.

I read that But have few issues.
I am not able to understand:
Code:
RewriteRule ^/~([^/]+)/?(.*) /u/$1/$2 [R]
What does ^/ sign means?
what does [^/]+ the plus sign means?
what does (.*) means?
Anyone who have clear understanding what these sign means?

They are regular expressions. The mod_rewrite makes heavy use of them. Like the * means 0 or more of the precedding or can mean any characters the ^ normaly means the begining while the $ will mean the end. + is one or more of the precedding and the ? zero or one of the preceding.
use this as a guide http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regular_expression
Regular expressions can take a while to get down and they are easily forgotten.

I am stuck at :
Code:
RewriteRule ^/([a-zA-Z[-a-zA-Z]+]*)/guides/$
Code:
RewriteRule ^/([a-zA-Z[-a-zA-Z]+]*)/(guides)/([a-zA-Z[-a-zA-Z]+]*)/([a-zA-Z[-a-zA-Z]+]*)(-)(city)(-)(guide)(.htm)$ /viewCityGuide.form?languageCode=$1&countryName=$3&cityName=$4&ln=${languageMapping:$1} [QSA,PT,L]
Any idea how to interpret?

Not sure I totaly understand the first one but I think it means look for anything that has letters A-Z or a-z (has to be at least one or more) followed by /guides/. The last line looks the same but they both seem to be missing dome things.
the format is normally
RewriteRule pattern replacement [flags]
