Question about "reload/mark all upgrades" in Synaptic Package Manager
 

Looking to get the latest stuff available in Synaptic, I clicked on the "reload" button in Synaptic. Then the "Mark all upgrades" button. (I don't think this makes any difference but I also checked out removing another program via Synaptic but ended up not removing it. I just mention this in case it figures in to my question. If it does, I have another post on Kactivityrd in this Newbie forum that explains what I did.)
Then I went to exit Synaptic and I got this pop-up (screenshot).

So I'm guessing is that what I did with the Kactivityrd thing has nothing to do with this, and what I should do now, is click on the "cancel" button in the pop-up and then click on the "apply" button.

So would if be safe to say to get the latest in Synaptic I:
1) Click on "reload"
2) Click on "mark all upgrades"
3) Click on "apply"

If I'm understanding your question right, yes you should be safe, as far as I can see you have;

1) Click on "reload"

This refresh's the package information, so Synaptic Package Manager knows what new package versions are available.

2) Click on "mark all upgrades"

This marks any updates for you.

3) Click on "apply"

This should then ask you if you want to go ahead and install any updates.

In your screenshot, it would have cancelled any "marked" updates and not installed any of them and then closed Synaptic Package Manager, if you clicked "Quit".

Thanks. I chose "Quit" then came back in and did the reload/mark all upgrades/apply.
