Question about my Linux install

I've installed Mepis v6.5.02 and when I look at the partitions using Gparted it's as follows:

TotalSize Used Unused

hda1 ext3 9.77gigs 2.28gigs 7.49 gigs

hda2 linux-swap 1gig

hda3 ext3 8.39gigs 327.53 megs 8.07 gigs

What is this hda3 for, it doesn't say? Is there a more efficient way to configure this Linux install? Sorry my list got a little screwed up when I saved it. The three numbers are Total Size, Used and Unused Thanks.

It is either a pre-existing partition that Mepis recognizes, or you created it during the process of installing Mepis.

Cat /etc/fstab to see if it's listed. It will show you the device /dev/hda3 and the mount point. Cd to the mount point and list the contents (or use your GUI filemanager to inspect the contents of the mount point).

What kind of files do you see?
