Question Question about moving /boot partition to new drive

Hi everyone,

I'm in the process of moving everything on a multiple drive system to a single partition drive. I've completed everything except for the drive holding /boot, which is the only partition on the drive. What do I need to do to move this partition to a drive that already contains data?

I'm guessing that it would involve coping the /boot folder to the new drive and then setting up Grub again, but I need to be sure before I proceed.

Any help would be great!

you copy the contents of what is now still your /boot partition to /boot on your single partition drive - and reinstall grub from there (chroot into it like you would from your LiveCD - install grub - adjust grub.conf - and set this drive to be booted from in BIOS)
You can even test your new setup by booting the new system with your still existing /boot partition and a new entry in your current grub.conf
You always have the LiveCD (I was just assuming you had one...) a working grub installation on your old HD, which you can use to boot directly to your new system by the grub-command-line and your old system to fix things if it does not work - but it should!
