Question about Freespire

We have just purchased Freespire 2.0 for our sons computer. He has an Agere Systems LT modem in it. We cannot get it to connect to the internet. (dial up) Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas? We also have another computer that we are having the same problem with that we have installed Ubuntu on. Thanks for your help. This is the first time that we have tried anything besides Windows in our computers, so we are completely lost. Thanks, RLP1234

Hi and welcome to LQ. If the modem is a winmodem (software based), then the chances of it working with non windows operating systems are very low. You can look at linmodems and see if its supported. One option would to buy external serial (RS232) modems because they work very (out of the box usually) with most operating systems.
