I recreated this error after using ssh to access a computer running Fedora. If I look at my Centos release running as a Virtual Machine there is no such error. Let us know if you are using SSH and there is a simple solution.

To elaborate on timl's post

If you are connecting to your CentOS guest using ssh the error is caused by not enabling X11 forwarding. However, if you connecting from a windows machine you need a running X server. If you are connecting to your CentOS guest directly do you have a desktop installed?
