I downloaded qtella & installed it. Very easy (rpm). Had no problems or errors during install. I ran it and went thru the configuration choices (download directories, etc). However, when I tried to connect it just stayed there and did nothing (just said Connecting....) for each of the four hosts. Is this normal? Is there something else I have to do?
I have an "always on" cable connection.

'each of the four hosts' hmm, i guess those hosts would be host servers... nasty things. i think at least the limewire one was down recently... not sure. try taking my hosts file from http://cakenet.dynu.com/gtk-gnutella/
(might be w/o the 'gtk-' bit, can't remember) and putting it in your directory. format shuold be the same.... if not, there's still some hosts listed you can try and copy....

well, I'm at work now so I can't get back to it till tonight. But after sleeping on it, I'm wondering if the program installs with "example" hosts - ie gnutellahost1, gnutellahost2, etc. Maybe you are supposed to actually enter the correct host names. I'll check on that this evening. Someone in another thread a week or so ago mentioned something about setting up the host names with qtella....

searched for gnutella hosts with yahoo.com. Entered these host addressess into my qtella program where it lets you add AutoConnect hosts. It is trying to connect to these hosts but it just keeps cycling thru them, saying Connecting... but it never connects to any.

Is there something else to be done?

I have a cable modem and RoadRunner internet service.

didn't mean to sound grouchy on my last post. Just meant that I was figuring it out myself.

I got rid of the AutoConnect hosts that were installed by default. Put in connect3.bearshare.net.6346 and that works good.

I have been using Audiogalaxy with ease and pleasure for months in Windows, but one day I could no longer connect to it.
In the meantime I migrated to Linux, but Audiogalaxy did not seem to work here, either.
Yesterday I read this thread, and thought I should give it a try, again.
Downloaded gtk-gnutella, compiled from source and installed it, and it worked!. No setting, no configuration needed, I had to simply start it!
