Still new to the whole Linux thing, and only have experience with Suse 9.1, however...
There's a fedora core 4 box running Qmail, Clamav, and Spamassassin here that I've been having a problem with for a few days...
Every few hours - 3-4 times a day, it seems that the qmail process freezes!
The processes look like they're running, but users can't send or receive mails... I can't stop the service from webmin either.
After restarting the process from the CLI' ('qmailctl stop' then 'qmailctl start') everything is fine again.
I have checked /var/log/messages - nothing of any use in there
Also checked in /var/log/qmail - no luck there either
I've also gone through a few other logs that are unrelated to qmail and nothing.
The memory usage is fine (around 47%) and the hard drive usage is at 12%.
I need someone to please point me in the right direction cos I'm at a complete loss and don't know where to check next.
Got it working again... simple problem of maintenance:
The quarantine folder was sitting at 108000 files and the smtp processes were unable to access it - and hanging. Cleared the quarantine and log files and temp folders and Voila!!! Mail server back online
The only problem now is that although I have cleared the quarantine folder - the folder size is still showing as 67mb!!! How would I sort that one out?
