Q: FTP, Updating, SSH

ok i have a running game server 64.60.167.250:27015 that i setup by my self.

but i have a couple questions i need to ask.

FTP server:

i wish to uninstall vsftpd and get the proftpd instead. because the help file i seem not to be able to find.

what i need to be able to do is to log in a change the files that are in the /home/cstrike/hlds_1 via ftp and be able to add accounts to people.

Updating:

i seem not to be able to get much down Via SSH but i did get apt-get and did the update and upgrade fine.

and i updated the kernal to the latest but i wish to have all the lastest bugs fixs installed.

SSH:

i know u can run things in the back ground process but i seem not to be able to find out how to do it by adding the $ to the end.

the command i use is
./hlds_run -game cstrike +map de_dust2 -autoupdate -secure -port 27015 +maxplayers 16

in putty, when i close putty the server shuts down, what can i do about that.

i cant offer u much if u can help admin my server but, in a couple of days i plan to take what i know for this server a build a new server.
with a new mobo and more ram and more space, if u need some online space i can give it to u Via ftp.

there are other thing i wish to do with this server like fix up the web server load hl stats on it with mysql.

the server is hosted by a cafe in van nuys Cali.

thank you for your time

Jeremy

If you put a & at the end of the command does it still shut down when you close putty?
