Q: backups via SSH with roadblock because of APACHE permissions
Hi all, new to the community here and would appreciate any help on this.
Using some online tutorials I successfully setup a cron'd backup script.
The script will be started from Server-A, SSH into Server-B and using Rsync will transfer all my files from a specified directory over to Server-A.
Now the problem is that Server-B is running some files where apache is adding files to the server via user uploaded files. These uploaded files are listed as being owned by Apache in their permissions.
So as a result, my backup script/user cannot take these files and gets a permission denied error. I've read about various solutions that will automaticaly change the files owner from apache to root or admin or someone else, but I dont like this solution.
Is there a way I can simply give my backup user permission to read/copy apache owned files regardless of where they may be ?
Thanks!!
