python problem - compiled from source - python -V still showing old version
 

Hello,

I'm trying to install the latest python. I downloaded the source. Everything works fine but python -V still shows the old version. How can I change this? Bittorent doesn't work with the old version. I did a search but couldn't find an answer for a newbie at least.

Where did you install pythn into? You will need to point it to where you installed it. e.g. /home/user/bin/python -V
