putting drive icons on kde desktop
How do I put hard drive, zip drive, cdrom, and floppy drive
icons on my kde desktop so that I can access them? I'm not asking anything difficult to understand, so don't elaborate about whether you like this or not. I simply want to be able to access these drives any time I need them without having to type in 400 arcane lines of poop. johns |
right-click and goto Create New... file... Link to Location and enter your device's location. (I have a link to / on my desktop for convenience)
or right-click on the desktop, goto Configure Desktop... select the Device Icons tab and choose the devices you want to appear on the desktop (unmounted/mounted cdrom, floppy, etc) |
Right/middle click whatever brings up the menu that says CONFIGURE DESKTOP
Then on the first menu you get choose DEVICE ICONS and take your pick :) That's all there is to it.. |
How do I change...
.....the defautl icons and names that KDE uses. If I have a dvd-rom and a cd-rw he just puts cd-rom and cd-rom2 as the names....
|
make a symlink and rename that then....
there's probably a few ways to get around that.... Since i'm switching the cd-recorder and the dvd whenever i need them, i don't have that problem.. *got 3 disk in the pc* |
