Hi I am using PureOS as found (
I'd like to know how to save my changes and any packages I added?

Did you install it to the hard-disk or are you running from the LiveCD?

I have no experience with PureOS, but from their web site I see that it is a LiveCD that can be installed to the computer. If you installed it - make sure that you took the CD out of the drive and you are actually running it from the hard disk. Any changes you make, such as installing packages, should be permanent.
