Puppy linux slacko 5.7 daily auto shutdown script

Hello, I'm using puppy slacko 5.7 os and trying to create a auto shutdown script to be preformed daily. I currently have a script looping in start up to server if disconnect to reconnect which works. (Puppy being used as a thin client). Can anyone help me with script or information?

to answer your question: a daily cron job?

important note: do you know that puppy linux runs on the root account by default? (*)
it seems to me you are running it as some sort of networking/server setup? you are opening your machine to all kinds of vulnerabilities by running everything with the highest privilege.

(*) at least that's how it used to be. i never tried puppy slacko though. anyhow, you should be aware of this.

Thanks for the cron job info. Any advice on how the run the script or scripts securely, Without using the highest privilege. I use the puppy to rdesktop to windows vm on server. I currently got a script in the puppy startup as so...

While true;do
rdesktop -g 1600 * 900 #the vm name -d#domain name -u#user -p#password -f;
done.

This prevents users from logging off vm and playing with puppy os. Is there more secure avenue to do this? or any recommendation would be greatly appreciated thank you or your response earlier

you should use another distro.

but, iirc puppy had a command to run security sensitive apps (like your web browser) as a less privileged user.
not saying this is a solution to your problem, though.
