Puppy install "failed" msg

Totally clueless, so plz be gentle:
I'm attempting to install 2.17 from cd ISO and get this:
"copying pup_217.sfs to tmpfs_mounting on(/initrd/)/ pup_ro2...failed", I've installed nothing else Linux. It's a win xp pro notebook with lotsa miles.

Have you verified the MD5 of the iso ? It could be a bad burn. Try burning the next iso on the slowest setting available, and make sure you are using the latest version of puppy.

Let us know how it turned out....

I tried it with 3.0 as u suggested, and nothing got the xp "boot-loop" and try as I might, couldn't get windows to start until I used the xp install cd as a boot disk. Any ideas, I remain pupless

how much ram do you have. if it is under 512 mb then create a swap partition for pupy thats what i had to do on a old machine. 3.01 puppy did not work on old laptop to many modules that are no longer in the kernel. does it run from the live disk?
