pump running on startup?

Internet spontaneously failed on me recently and now I just found out that pump was missing so I had no dhcp client.
Got pump but NOW the problem is that even though /etc/sysconfig/networking-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 has BOOTPROTO=dhcp, pump will not run until I do so manually as root.

I need a solution that will let non root-priviledge users run pump.

I don't see why it won't right now but a startup script (don't have a clue what to do for that though I presume it's quite simple) which runs itself as root for non-root users would be the ideal solution even though that SHOULD be impossible for obvious security reasons!
