public ip can be disclosed

Is there any harm in telling someone my public ip address of the system ?

if you have a listening service with a known vulnerability, YES...

if you have a good firewall, and no vulnerable services running, NO...

There are millions of public ip addresses being used. The harm would be is if someone decides they don't like you or wants to toy with you. Just be careful and make sure you have a good firewall and turn off all unneeded services.
