I am "relatively" new to Fedora 4, but was a BSD UNIX admin many years ago. I installed my new HP PSC 1510 printer and it worked perfectly for printing with CUPS, using KDE -> Printing. Hoping to use the scanner, I loaded ptal and the dependencies and now I am unable to print from any application. Using KDE -> Printing I am *usually* able to print a test page, but never from an app. Now in the Add Printer I no longer see the USB interface, with only ptal and direct connection available. With so many reports due shortly I would like to remove/delete/nuke ptal and all the dependencies and restore CUPS. I'll try and figure out how to use the scanner later (unless someone knows a sure-fire way of fixing this. Does anyone know how I may do so?

To follow up, here is an error message from the root console.
