Question Proper way to add modules gameport.o and cmpci.o

Hello
I know how to get my sound to work but wanted to know the proper way to have the kernel load these modules.
I dont know how to set up the modules configuration files

If I do this
insmod /lib/modules/``uname -r`/kernel/drivers/char/joystick/gameport.o
insmod /lib/modules/`uname -r`/kernel/drivers/sound/cmpci.o
it will work but how do I do it without that script.
Thanks In advance
Greg

Proper way re-discovered.

I had to add a /etc/modules.conf of the following

# ALSA portion
alias char-major-116 snd
alias snd-card-0 snd-cmipci
# module options should go here
options snd-cmipci enable_midi=1 mpu_port=0x330 fm_port=0x388
#options snd-cmipci id="first" enable_midi="1"
# COMMENT Above two options did nothing for me since I do not have an external midi device and could not get the synth #to be recognized.
# OSS/Free portion
alias char-major-14 soundcore
alias sound-slot-0 snd-card-0

# card #1
alias sound-service-0-0 snd-mixer-oss
alias sound-service-0-1 snd-seq-oss
alias sound-service-0-3 snd-pcm-oss
alias sound-service-0-8 snd-seq-oss
alias sound-service-0-12 snd-pcm-oss
