Question proper linux


i have been strugling to load puppy linux 4.3.1 on my home pc but thats not the problem. the thing is i am using an old ibm clone running at 350 with 256mb ram and 4gig ide hdd with capability to increse speedy to 476mhz. now which distro of linux that is good for my machine and that can run perfect on my lover machine?

I think installing fedora minimal installation would do. Any distro with minimal installation that gives only command line would happily run in that confirguration. I have run dos, windows 3.11 with worse than that configuration. But definelty linux is far better than these mentioned in terms of command line operation.

I was happily running Debian and on a P3 333 MHz, with 192 Mb RAM for many years. It was even reasonable running a full gnome desktop. However, gnome has (I believe) gotten a little fatter in recent years, so if you want to run a desktop environment, you may do better with something like xfce or lxde (both in Debian).

hi mate!
i think u better run "Hacao Linux 2009 CE". it is a dam good distro for ur box. it only use 100mb ram, multimedia codecs r pre-installed, beautiful GUI.
