Projecting linux graphics screen using a network projector

I am a linux user. I learn that, MS Windows screen can projected using a network projector from any location on the network without being physically connected to the projector by VGA cable. Is it possible to do the same with linux graphics screen?

If yes, do I need to install any utility on my linux machine and do I need a network projector that supports some kind of special protocol?

Thanks.

I think it depends on the projector itself. In general it is surely possible, but in your case we will need more info about your configuration (projector and connected hardware)
