Programming with python

I'm currently trying to gather as much information as possible on linux since I would would like to become a user of this product. I read a article about programming and they mentioned that python should be the first language to start with. Is this true?

Also I understand that Linux requires it's users to use scripts to do most of it's operations. Since Python comes with Linux can I use Python to do all of linux work?

If possible I would like for someone to explain the difference between python and the language used by linux. also What would be my best solution to learning at a faster rate.

Python is just an interpreted language written in C. Python is the easiest programming language in linix, i think that it is easier than BASIC, and Shell Script. it has a interactive interpreter making it easier to start programming

The language used by Linux is many. If you are talking about the programming language compiled apps are written in its C or C++. Some people also consider Shell Scripting good, for small programs that can be seen by everyone. lisp although i don't use it is used to extend some applications because. perl is a step between c, and shell scripting.
