profil.local
SUSE V11.2, gnome
The plan was to experiment with scripting. I copied (verbatim) my etc/profil. to etc/profil.local and added whoami so I could see I had located the placed to begin scripting. I used the machine for several days (without rebooting) switching between a user account and the root account, not problems. I do a reboot a few days later, and right after logging in (entering name and password) I get the green swirl wall paper and it goes no further. The mouse will wiggle around, but no toolbar at the bottom of the desktop to allow me to do stuff. I tried booting with a knoppix cdrom hoping to delete my etc/profil.local but can't mount the disk. What do I do, HELP? Thanks. |
You need to mount the disk and remove the file or all the changes you made. What kind of filesystem you have? Why you can't mount the disk? What errors do you get?

I'm all set now, I reinstalled the OS.
Thanks you. |
