Red face Production Stable version of ActiveMQ

We are using ActiveMQ 5.2 on Linux.
But we are facing problems like "ActiveMQ hangs out and doesnt accept connections"
Does any one has used it before on Linux,if yes which version?
And is there any specific way we should do installation of ActiveMQ?
