PROCESS question about father and child .

Hi all

What is is the basic idea of father and child process ?

Why father process "needs" a child process ?

What is the big deal in father and child process concept ?

There is always one father but multiple childs in a home of Operating SYS.

When father is requested to do anything it just creates a child of itself(forks itself) to do it. So the father will not remain busy by doing it himself and process multiple processes as per the requests received.

e.g.
shell :

When you ask the shell to do anything(run any command) it just forks itself to execute the command and you can simultaneously run other commands in the shell.
