process manager for linux?
Sorry for the large number of questions recently but I'm trying many things to get linux working (to replace that windows). So now I need to know how to keep track of processes running in the background (like the windows task manager). Preferably runable from text mode.

man ps :)

ps aux | grep <process name> is soo handy sometimes :D

better than ps aux|grep ____

ps -A|grep _____, it's cleaner and just gives you what you need (aka, the rogue process number that you need to kill) ;-)

After using ps get the pid and in the console enter the command kill then the process ID.

Eg, kill 1243
