That seems to indicate something like it can't find a driver for "trident" whatever that is (presumably a graphic's card). Hence it can't find screens that will work with whatever refresh rate's you changed to.
I've you've got alternate access to the net (dual boot windows or something like that) and find out the spec for the monitor or if you've got instructions for your monitor/screen, then you could change it back to the default values.
Then reboot and see what happens.

ok i got some help from some people and they had me add some lines, which were: under driver which we changed from trident to vga, we put Option "noaccel" then in display we put Modes 640 480 there was a line above that which i cant remember (im dual booting onto windows right now) and also changed depth and default depth to 8 and now xwindows is loading but its HUGE and the top half of the screen is gone, even the mouse gets lost in it could someone give me some ideas on what to do from here because my friend who had helped me is lost as well

Well if you've managed to get something on screen, then I would have thought that you're not too far off.
Have you tried putting different resolutions into the same line that you put the 640 and 480 ? or you may just be able to change it temporarily by hitting ctrl - or + (but use the - and + keys on the numeric keyboard section - that might help).
Oh and note down any changes, so at least you should be able to get back to "square 1".
The mouse getting lost maybe to do with having the screen set to that res, means that the "virtual screen" has the cursor on that section, though normally it should get to the edge of the screen and then move the screen image across. Weird!

John
