Problems with video camera

Hi everyone,

I have a Jazz HDV178 usb video camera. When I plugin it defaults to storage mode, which works fine, when I switch to camera mode linux doesn't recognize it (ls /dev/video* brings up nothing). I have no other audio or video devices installed. I am running Ubuntu 11.04, any help would be great thanks.

post dmesg in both modes

check their site

When I type in dmesg the response is very long, is there a way to shorten it or find out exactly what part you need?

dmesg|tail

will be short

When the camera is set to storage dmesg gives the following:

[59886.771153] fat_get_cluster: invalid cluster chain (i_pos 0)

When the camera is set to camera, dmesg gives the following:

take the memory card out turn it to cam mode
in your package manager install guvcview
try the cam in guvcview

Even when I take out the card it still doesn't want to work. The new dmesg is:

[ 668.417129] sd 4:0:0:0: [sdb] 70464 512-byte logical blocks: (36.0 MB/34.4 MiB)

I'm really not sure what this all means.
