Unhappy Problems with sound card drivers

Hey there!!!
I am a newbie to Linux(Backtrack) and i have found some difficulties with my sound card driver.
I tried to download some drivers for Realtek AC70, i installed them and everything went fine.
(Do be honest, i wasnt 100% sure that they were the appropriate drivers.)
Now the main problem is that my card suddenly doesnt work when i log into my user profile but it works when i log in as 'root'.
Secondly when i try to listen some mp3 i get an error like---->CPU overloaded.
I ve got a feeling that propably i installed wrong drivers.

And here come the questions:
1.Does anyone know how to get the actual version and details of your sound card?
2.In case that i have to unistall the old drivers what i do?

Really thanks for your time.

This is pure speculation. Backtrack is a Slax live cd based distro. I have only been messing with it for a few weeks. How exactly did you install these drivers. I had to build a module for ethereal to work on my machine. I am not 100% sure, but I believe you would have to do the same for your machine.

Also after an install sound cards need configured as root:

Then as user adjust settings:

Then as root (not sure about this been awhile):
alsactl store

lspci should work for question 1.
As far as question 2 it really depends on the install method.

There is on the bactrack homepage a tutorial on making and installing a module.I know this is not a rock solid answer for you, but I hope it helps some.
