problems with rpmdrake

I have just installed Mandrake 9.2

My system is fine until I start using rpmdrake to install software (mozilla and mplayer).

After I install programs items disapear from my "start applications" menu and I can't use the welcome icon any more I get the following message when I click on the system configuration icon "file:/usr/share/applnk-mdk/Configuration/Configureyour computer.desktop does not exist.

any help would be appreciated.
