Problems with qmail

I have created a new user using ln -s ~account/Mailbox account in the var/spool/mail. What i'm facing right now is after i hav created the email account as well as the password. The user is only able to sent messages but is not able to retrieve or receive any emails. Could you help me and i would like to know why is it happening that way. For previously i hav used the same command and my user is able to receive their emails but why does this new account is unable to retrieve the email from the mail server. I deeply appreciate if anyone could help me out in this matter.Thank You.

Yours sincerely,
