Problems with newer Suse distros?
Maybe it's just me, but I keep seeing all of these installation issues pop up with Suse 10.1, while I have seen mostly good things about previous versions. I am about to burn a Suse distro and I am wondering, is 10.1 something that should be regarded as an unrefined beta, or should it be pretty much as sound as the previous versions? Note that I have encountered relatively little difficulty while utilizing the Live Knoppix, so I am expecting that Suse will perform at least as well, but one or two of these issues that I have seen pop up are giving me second thoughts. Maybe it is just an issue of user-friendliness between a Live Does-it-all-by-itself distro vs. doing an actual full-fledged install. I will probably want to do some homework before I actually do it.

Well Ive been using SuSE since 8.1 & this one does have an issue or two with the new zen package management system or whatever its called - but beyond having to read the release notes or manually starting zen ATM its certainly very good.
Maybe a development version of Opensuse will have these bits already fixed but still be fine - dont know . 10.2 should be top SuSE again but 10.1 should still be fine - its working for me. |
