problems with mozilla
 

i am having an issue with mozilla. i'm running redhat 9 on a dell and everything was working fine until one day my boy turned off the power to the computer while i was on the internet. from that point on, when i tried to get on mozilla, it came up with the message that i took a screenshot of. i had to create a new profile, but i'd like to get the other one back with all the bookmarks. any help is greatly appreciated. apprently i can't post attachments for some reason, so here is the text of the error message:
mozilla cannot use the profile tim because it is already in use. please choose another profile.

You probably just have a stale lock file.
1) Make sure all mozilla/firefox instances are closed
2) Run:
find ~/.mozilla/ -type l -name lock -exec rm -f {} \;
3) Start mozilla with whichever profile you like

i don't know the complete solution........but to see your bookmarks, go to /root........there in hidden directories you can see a folder ".mozila", open it. Search a liittle there for your older profile.........inside that you can see a file "bookmarks".
these are your bookmarks.

may be some other people knows the better solution

ruudra: never wait for someone else to help with a problem if you know of a way to help, you gave me some great info. i am a very new linux user and thanx to your advice, i know a little more about the os than i did before.
i feel a little bad because i don't have enough technical knowledge to help others out, i feel like i'm always asking for help without giving enough in return. but one thing i do try to always do is research posts and read some of the links i have picked up to try to help myself first. i have learned a lot by spending hours reading all kinds of material posted on various sites. thanx to all the users of this forum for your great advice and assistance, it has been truly indispensible to my linux experience.
