Question Problems w/Redhat 9 and USB 2.0

I have a customer who is seeing a problem with our hardware running Redhat 9. We have three USB ports on our board, one that is 2.0 and two that are 1.1. The 2.0 port is working, but the 1.1 ports are not. He sees the following error message when he installs the USB device:

[root@localhost root]# usb.c: USB device not accepting new address=2 (error=-71)

usb.c: USB device not accepting new address=3 (error=-71)

There's the background, now for questions:

1. Has anyone seen this type of error message before or can point me to someplace I could get more info on it?
2. Does anyone know of any issues with Redhat 9 and USB 2.0 vs 1.1?
3. Does he just need a new driver that perhaps knows how to deal with a 2.0 device installed in a 1.1 port?

Any other info you can provide would be much appreciated.

TIA!

I wish I could help you out, but I would update that installation because of all the improvements with KDE, Gnome, etc. I had a similar problem with one of my computers that has RH9. Still being a newbie with Linux I installed a USB PCI card that I had around and now all the devices are detected, even though some of the programs are not working at all with them, like an Intel PC Pocket camera - Gnonemeeting won't see it. On another computer I updated my RHFedora 1 harddrive to Fedora 3 and now my Logitech camera doesn't work with Gnomeeting even though the other USB devices work well. I'm currently downloading RHF4 test 2 to upgrade this installation and to see if it resolves some of these issues. I installed Ubuntu on another computer, and because of its updated kennel, everything seems to work well, (Epson printer, Epson scanner, Logitech camera, wireless mouse, even the USB Linksys hub) yet I still can't connect to the Internet because of my wireless router setup.
