problems logging in sometimes
Hi ...i have installed Backtrack 5 on an old pc.
i log in and give my username and password and everything is fine but when i power down i use shutdown -P now............or i use shutdown -H now... the problem is when i power back up sometimes i need to press enter to get the id and password lines to come up and sometimes the @ symobol seems to appear just before it says password and when this happens ...i get password not found. can anyone explain why..... secondly sometimes when i am in root directory and type ls it lists the directories but the writing is coloured... and other times its plain white.... why is this sorry ...im a total newbie and also a bit of a perfectionist...i need to understand everything. thank you |
Hi there
Have you considered posting a problem at the distro's developer/community site www.backtrack-linux.org Release 5 is the latest build according to their site, and you might have stumbled on an introduced defect, or hardware incompatibility issue. Regards C |
