Problems Installing Video Drivers

Any help is greatly appreciated. I'm trying to leave windows and it would be nice to get my ubunto 9.10 setup by installing the drivers for my ati video card which the ati site says is located at http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownloa...7&lang=English.

According to the installation instructions provided through the pdf it says "Enter the command sh ./ati-driver-installer-9.2-x86.x86_64.run to launch the ATI Proprietary Linux driver installer." After going through the uncompressing period, it gives me this error:
./default_policy.sh does not support version
default:v2:x86_64:lib::none:2.6.31-15-generic; make sure that the version is being
correctly set by --iscurrentdistro.

Any ideas?

I think this non free driver is probably packaged for Ubuntu in the restricted drivers section. If it is, you will be much better off installing it that way.

Have a look at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RestrictedDrivers
and follow the link "RestrictedDrivers/ATI."

Please try to follow those instructions, then report back here to let us know how it went.

Cheers,

Evo2.
