problems installing on old laptop
i can't seem to get X to work at all.
tried running xorgconfig with several different options for video cards and settings (vesa, vga, 16/8 bit) but it just goes to a black screen if it starts to work and stays there. during startup it also pops up with a few errors here are some of them. Code:
Starting system mesaage bus: /usr/bin/dbus-uuidgen --ensure ; /usr/bin/dbus-daemon -- system slackware 12.0 unsure of system specs atm. but old and slow |
It appears your computer does not have enough memory. You may need to choose a smaller distro. Find the specs on your computer, this will help you a lot in knowing what choices you have.

I am not familiar with Slackware, I am not sure. From what I have read I believe you can install Slack with command line only and if so can you install it. If it won't install you may have to find a different distro. You still have not listed the brand, model and specs on your computer.

Hello
You might try XUbuntu. It works great on my Compaq Evo N600c. Bye Koen Plessers |
