Problems installing Mandrake9
Hi,
I am a Windows95 user attempting to install Mandrake9 into a partition. Install tends to "abort" at Printer options - once it froze, another time it simply stopped installing the print packages, and another time it told me a long message about exiting "received signal 9". So I bypassed printer thinking I could do it later. Now I can't get past "bootloader". It says "Glib - Warning no such user. " and terminates and I have to start all over again. Prior to this it tells me "Installation of bootloader failed. Following error occurred: Fatal: Partition not found." I am installing of CD which an experienced user burned for me. Any help greatly appreciated. Rose |
try to install from original cd's
Hi,
your install problems sounded strange to me until I read: >I am installing of CD which an experienced user burned for me. Well, I would call myself an experienced user but I would never be able to burn a linux distribtion myself. Try to find out if you've got an original mandrake cd, if not try to get one. If you have the original CD, try to do a memory test (Disable quick power on self test in BIOS), to see if your memory ist alright. When a Linux system crashes frequently when doing differnt things, it's often the hardware. Hope it helps, Chris |
