problems installing/logging into YDL 3.0

i am (was) trying to run linux on a flat panel imac, and when i tried to install it using the graphical interface i quite frankly couldnt read it because it was having problems displaying it, so i used the other install option and it worked, then when i logged in it displayed the kernel (is this normal? if so it would be useful if someone could tell me what to do), and i couldnt figure out what to do, on top of this it wouldn't let me get back into mac os x so my computer was unusable, i had to reinstall os x (on my external hard drive) and erase my internal hard drive (the one that had linux on it) to get back to os x

I put this on the Yellow Dog Linux mailing list and nobody could figure it out so i decided to put it here to get more peoples opinions.

thanx in advance for any help
